The What’s Up Irvine Podcast is about inspiring and connecting the Irvine community through impactful conversations with nonprofit, civic, faith-based, and other community leaders who are making a difference or doing something exciting--getting to know them in a personal way through their stories and life experiences. We cover a wide range of topics that make Irvine a great city--its people, culture, influence, and opportunities. We also will touch upon current events and ways to get more involved in our city. We hope that you will learn something new and exciting about our city by following WUI and feel more connected with our community.

Mark Shaffer is the Assistant General Manager and the Community Relations Pastor at KWAVE 107.9fm. He is a husband of nearly 30 years to his wife Jenny and the dad to his two sons Justus and Jordan. Mark was saved at 18 years of age after being raised in a Catholic family. He became a Youth Pastor at Calvary Chapel in 1991 and has served in a number of youth ministries for over 35 years. His heart is for the Word of God, the ministry of the Holy Spirit and pointing believers to the unity found in the body of Jesus Christ. His hobbies include playing guitar, working with his hands and anything that involves being at the beach. Hear about his childhood and his career with KWAVE in this episode.
