OUR MISSION

Love Irvine is a citywide movement for everyone.

What is the greatest need in Irvine?

Love Irvine partners with nonprofit and for-profit service providers, the faith community, schools, and government agencies to answer the question, “What is the greatest [social] need in our city? Once identified, we then bring together these communities (civic, non-profits, churches, businesses, individuals, etc.) to collaborate and create solutions that will move us towards fulfilling ‘the greatest need’.

Love Irvine also selects and promotes a limited number of ongoing volunteer opportunities where anyone in the city can volunteer and make a difference in our community.

In early 2021, community leaders from Trellis (Costa Mesa) met with community leaders in Irvine to cast a vision of a more collaborative city ecosystem that focuses on developing solutions for community-felt issues that are impacting the city.

A catalytic City Wide Serve Day event emerged, which successfully built momentum and created enthusiasm for more! People of all ages asked, “When can we do this again?” We [Love Irvine] knew we were onto something, seeing how people wanted to belong to something bigger.

Our desire from the outset was to dream big and imagine what we could do if civic, churches, businesses, education, and everyone who calls Irvine ‘home’, all worked together to ‘Seek the peace and prosperity of our city’ (Jer. 29:7) so that everyone thrives.

Our Vision

Love our city so that everyone feels connected and thrives!

Our Mission

We promote and organize volunteer opportunities to strengthen and support other organizations and city initiatives.

We help identify the greatest need in Irvine, then bring together key stakeholders (civic, nonprofit, churches, businesses…) to create solutions that will move us towards fulfilling ‘the greatest need’.

Our Core Principles

  • We exist to glorify God in all that we do.
  • We exist to demonstrate ‘love in action’
  • We exist to be people of peace, bridge-builders between those who want to help and those who need help.
  • We exist because we believe that when our entire community embraces doing everything motivated by love, our community will be transformed.

Leadership

Love Irvine is led by an all-volunteer board and committee members; enthusiastic and mission-driven individuals united by a common desire and heart to love and serve the City of Irvine and its people. Learn more about our leadership teams below:

Curtis Drever

President

Not only the President of Love Irvine but also one of its founders, Curtis is responsible for setting the course and casting vision for the organization, and building a top-notch team. Curtis loves using his God-given passion to encourage and serve others and finds great joy in creating events and opportunities where people can feel more connected to each other and to their community.

Previous to leading Love Irvine, Curtis was the Director of Global Missions and Local Outreach for Shepherd’s Grove Presbyterian Church where he created cross-cultural opportunities for people to get more involved in serving (volunteering) both internationally and locally. Before that, with a degree in Electrical Engineering from University of the Pacific, Curtis spent over 25 years in High-Tech working in various Sales and Business Development roles at large companies like HP, then transitioning to launching and/or growing small companies and start-ups where he could better utilize his entrepreneurial gifting.

Curtis and his wife Michelle have been married for 39 years, and have two adult sons. They made a commitment early in their marriage to always try and serve (volunteer) and give back. They enjoy inviting people to their home to share a great meal and create space to really get to know people. They love to travel, especially to exotic places where they can hike and explore, and enjoy great cuisine.

Our committee members are a core group of volunteers dedicated to supporting specific initiatives, events, and organizational development. Committee members serve as ambassadors for Love Irvine and its mission. Get involved with Love Irvine through volunteering on one of our committees, learn more here!

Committees

When you join Love Irvine, you join a community of people who value life, faith, service, and love. Through our committees and task forces, volunteers are matched with intentional opportunities that move Love Irvine’s mission forward. We ask that volunteers who join a committee serve for at least one year (12 calendar months) to help see key initiatives, events, and projects through to their next phases of growth.
